In today’s digital world, you are often meeting people online long before you shake their hand in person. Your profile photo on LinkedIn, your website “About” page, or your company directory is your digital handshake.
So, take a look at your current headshot. Is it a cropped photo from a wedding where you can still see someone else’s shoulder? Is it a grainy selfie taken in the car?
If you are a professional, an actor, or a business owner, a “good enough” photo might be underselling you.
The Psychology of a Headshot A professional headshot does two things:
It establishes authority: It shows you take your career seriously.
It builds connection: A good headshot isn’t just about lighting; it’s about the eyes. It should make you look approachable and trustworthy.
“But I Hate Having My Photo Taken!” I hear you. Most people do! The idea of a “corporate headshot” brings up memories of stiff school photos with awkward backdrops. That is not how I work.
My headshot sessions are designed to be relaxed and conversational. We aren’t going to stiffly pose you like a statue. We’ll chat, we’ll laugh, and I’ll coach you on simple tricks—like how to hold your jaw or position your shoulders—to make sure you look confident and natural.

What to Wear?
Keep it simple. Solid colours usually work best. Avoid tiny, busy patterns (like herringbone) as they can distort on computer screens. Wear something that makes you feel powerful but comfortable. If you wouldn’t wear it to a client meeting, don’t wear it to the shoot.
